ABOUT
(written on Halloween day, 2024, when the game went live. copy and pasted from my website.)
This is my little tribute to Halloween Flash games. They were some of my favorite internet games to play around this time of year, and I have been dying to make some minigames for my website, so I finally took the opportunity to make something! Just barely made it on time, too!
I made this over the course of the last two weeks and have just barely finished it on Halloween . It was all made using Scratch! Unfortunately, to guarantee my completion, I did rush a few aspects, but I don't think any of it is game breaking, just unpolished and janky. Maybe I will come back next year and flesh a few of these ideas out a bit more.
For now, I will save any more polishing for the next few days, after I get some rest. Regardless of its jank, I hope you have fun :)
Scratch Link for those who want to see how it works!
KNOWN BUGS:
- SprayCan can spray a lot at random (intentionally kept in)
- Depth/Layering Issues
- ManicManeuvers can have an infinite looping problem

This was super charming! The minigames were creative and had that janky-but-fun spirit that made the era so special. Loved the visual style too, it really stands out.
Do you post about your games anywhere else, like social media or a personal site? Or maybe put them in itch.io bundles? I feel like a lot more people would love this if they saw it. Would be awesome to see it in a Halloween-themed bundle next year if you end up revisiting it!
Also, small Scratch tip in case it helps with your vibe: if the default orange number displays ever feel out of place, you can actually hide them and make a custom display using sprites. One way is to switch costumes based on the value of your variable, or even use
say
blocks from a sprite with a styled text bubble. There's plenty of resources online that go into it in more detail. It's a bit more work, but it gives you full control over how it fits into the aesthetic.Really loved this. Hope you got some well-earned rest after getting it out on time!
thank you for playing this! i post on most social media's and on my website. both are linked on my itch.io profile page!
i was considering something similar for the score's! my idea was more convoluted hahaha. your suggestion is much better! i decided due to the time-crunch not to mess much with the number displays though, and in the end, i kind of like having such a distinctly scratch visual present in the game, to show-off like "Yea! this game was made with scratch!!"
i have since moved onto Godot, so in the future, any UI will all be according to the game's aesthetic. Might revisit scratch for unrelated activities though.. its just so fun to work in!
